The Judge Group is currently seeking a Shipping/Transportation Supervisor for a manufacturing company in the Lancaster, PA area. The qualified individual will be responsible for the implementation of manufacturing and delivery schedules ensuring timely and efficient delivery of high quality bedding products.
DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Plans, organizes and supervises the delivery function of the department ensuring timely and efficient delivery of high quality products
Coordinates with the plant personnel in order to attain delivery, cost and quality of service objectives
Ensures compliance with DOT regulations
Tracks and analyzes functional metrics; calculates estimated costs associated with the shipping/delivery function and recommends appropriate alternatives.
Supervises and directs all job related activities of dock workers and other support staff engaged in the loading and unloading of freight while working with other Plant supervisors to ensure product, equipment and paperwork availability
Determines delivery routes, dispatches drivers accordingly optimizing efficiencies in time and cost
Maintains files and records and performs daily file back-up of computer systems
Recruits, interviews and makes selection recommendations of dock and driver positions
Provides initial and on-going training and evaluation to assigned personnel related to job duties and performance expectations using programs to motivate employees in order to improve performance and quality of work
Responds proactively to performance concerns, discipline, employee complaints and other employee relations matters
Identifies systems and procedures designed to improve operations and makes necessary recommendations
Attends appropriate training programs to remain current on DOT, health/safety and related issues
REQUIREMENTS:
Basic English reading/writing skills
High school graduate or equivalent plus additional college coursework or specialized training
Bachelor Degree preferred
Two or more years shipping/delivery/routing related experience to include supervisory or significant lead level experience and customer service related experience; or equivalent training and experience in other plant operations
Minimum 18 years of age
Experience working with routing software
Salary Range: $50,000 - $65,000Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
