Armstrong Floor Products (AFP), a division of Armstrong World Industries, Inc. has a job opportunity for an Operations Manager in our Lancaster, PA manufacturing plant. Under the direction and supervision of the Plant Manager, this position is accountable for providing effective Leadership and Direction to the CVL Value Stream, specifically Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost. The Operations Manager will drive consistent system(s) improvements across CVL and LVT Value Streams to create sustainable improvements around Plant Metrics, in conjunction with the Plant Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities of the Operations Manager:
Model personal and organizational leadership to deliver an effective safety process, including Risk Assessments, Gemba safety walks, and successful 5S housekeeping levels
Drive continuous improvement of CVL operations while collaborating with Operations Manager - LVT on consistent systems across CVL and LVT to ensure sustainable, predictable and continuous improvement across both value streams on-going
Lead the sustainable improvement of product quality and customer service
Utilize SPC and statistical tools to analyze process capabilities, including quality attributes
Improve CVL processes and quality performance through improving the utilization of Lean Manufacturing techniques including Kaizens, Visual Management, and effective root cause analysis and correction action implementation
Maintain high level of customer awareness throughout the value stream and focus on delivering material that meets requirements
Drive organizational vitality and effectiveness within CVL operations through dynamic coaching and goal setting to drive a bottom up support structure with effective labor relations and building partnerships at all levels of the organization
Report directly to the Plant Manager
Work closely with the Plant Leadership Team, especially with the Operations Manager - LVT and Lean Champion
Work closely with Corporate Logistics and DC Manager to ensure continuous improvement
Required Qualifications for the Operations Manager:
Extensive experience in Lean manufacturing required. 5
years of supervision/management in a manufacturing environment or other applicable leadership experience
Ability to observe safety and security procedures; determine appropriate action beyond guidelines; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly
Ability to synthesize complex or diverse information; collect and research data; use intuition and experience to complement data; design work flows and procedures
Capable of developing project plans; coordinate projects; communicate changes and progress; complete projects on time and budget; manage project team activities
Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listen and gets clarification; respond well to questions; demonstrate group presentation skills; participate in meetings
Ability to develop workable implementation plans; communicate changes effectively; build commitment and overcome resistance; prepare and support those affected by change; monitor transition and evaluate results
Ability to include staff in planning, decision-making, facilitating and process improvement; Takes responsibility for subordinates' activities; Make self-available to staff; Provides regular performance feedback.
Ability to look for ways to improve and promote quality; demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness
Understanding of business implications of decisions; display orientation to profitability; demonstrate knowledge of market and competition; align work with strategic goals
Ability to work within approved budget; contribute to profits and revenue; develop and implement cost saving measures; conserve organizational resources
Desired Qualifications for the Operations Manager:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or business administration preferred
